On the Sunday 24th June 2012, Cadets of GMACF’s No. 4 Company paraded at Salford’s “Shouting Fusilier” memorial to honour its rededication following its recent restoration after years of neglect and last year’s riots.

The Parade was led by the Lancashire Fusiliers Band. They were followed the Fusiliers Association – veterans of both the Lancashire Fusiliers and its successor Regiment, the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. 4 Company took their place at the rear of the Parade with Cadets from most detachments present – hence the mix of a number of cap-badges including the Fusiliers, the Mercian Regiment and the Royal Logistic Corps.

Waiting for the Parade to arrive were a number of dignitaries including GMACF’s Commandant, Col Mike Glover TD and the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Bernard James Lea. Escort to this party was provided serving members of the 1st Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

The ceremony began with the standard bearer of the Association handing the colours of the Salford Branch of the Association to Col Glover, who then placed them over the drums. The band then played as the Parade sang William Blake’s Jerusalem. After this the Colonel and the Ceremonial Mayor approached the two cadet wreath bearers, Cadet Lance Corporals David Scott and Anais Nicholson. The Ceremonial Mayor then placed his wreath followed by Col Glover.
